Petitenget Temple is located on the sandy golden shoreline in Banjar Batu Belig area, Traditional Village of Kerobokan, Kuta Sub-Distric, Badung Regency, about 13 Km from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

This temple was built in the XV Century and during the time, the area was a haunted are full of bushes and trees. The history of the temple was started when Hindu Priest Dang Hyang Dwijendra who was doing meditation at Uluwatu Temple, received a visit from the villagers of Kerobokan coming to ask for help. People from the village told Dang Hyang Dwijendra about the very mysterious land near their village where every time someone tried to enter the land, the persons would fall sick. As a solution, Dang Hyang Dwijendra instructed people to build a temple in the area and was named Petitenget Temple, meaning a very haunted crate. The magic circumstance occurred, since the Temple was establised, the area became more friendly and beautiful up to the present. Petitenget temple is standing on higher ground, while in the  western part of the tample there is a beautiful white sandy beach of Petitenget. On the outer compound of the temple, there is a fairly large terrace. Upon entering the Temple, we haveto passthrough several staircases. This temple is one of theplaces to request for safety and welfarefor Hindu people in Bali. 

Pura Petitenget terletak di garis pantai berpasir keemasan di daerah Banjar Batu Belig, Desa Tradisional Kerobokan, Kecamatan Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, sekitar 13 Km dari Bandara Internasional I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

Kuil ini dibangun di XV Century dan selama itu, daerah itu angker penuh dengan semak-semak dan pepohonan. Sejarah kuil dimulai ketika Pendeta Hindu Dang Hyang Dwijendra yang sedang melakukan meditasi di Pura Uluwatu, menerima kunjungan dari penduduk desa Kerobokan yang datang untuk meminta bantuan. Orang-orang dari desa memberi tahu Dang Hyang Dwijendra tentang tanah yang sangat misterius di dekat desa mereka di mana setiap kali seseorang mencoba memasuki tanah, orang-orang akan jatuh sakit. Sebagai solusinya, Dang Hyang Dwijendra menginstruksikan orang untuk membangun sebuah kuil di daerah tersebut dan diberi nama Pura Petitenget, yang berarti peti yang sangat angker. Keadaan ajaib terjadi, karena Bait Suci didirikan, daerah menjadi lebih ramah dan indah hingga saat ini. Pura Petitenget berdiri di tanah yang lebih tinggi, sementara di bagian barat tample ada pantai berpasir putih yang indah di Petitenget. Di kompleks luar kuil, ada teras yang cukup besar. Saat memasuki Bait Suci, kita harus melewati beberapa anak tangga. Candi ini adalah salah satu tempat untuk meminta keselamatan dan kesejahteraan bagi orang-orang Hindu di Bali.
